A new SOMM Additional Training Course I will take place in the week May 23 to May 27, 2001 in Mannheim. Within the scope of this course, participants will be schooled in the following skills and abilities:
- Mastering all fundamental business best practices
- Competent advice and sales
- Musical sensibility and business thinking
- Comprehensive music and trade knowledge
Application deadline for Course I: April 11, 2011
ATTENTION: The following spring series courses will take place at these times and locations:
Course II: MAY 2 to May 6, 2011, Mannheim, application deadline: March 28, 2011
Course III: May 16 to May 20, 2011, Berlin, application deadline: March 28, 2011
We also hope to welcome the participants of the fall series 2010 to the corresponding follow-up courses and are looking forward to new registrations for Course I of the spring series 2011!

Elisabeth Kühl (29), Assistenz der Geschäftsführung übernimmt innerhalb des Verbandes die Projektleitung für die zahlreichen Förderprojekte. Zudem verantwortet sie den Europäischen SchulmusikPreis (ESP) sowie die Fort- und Weiterbildungskurse „Certified Music Merchant“ und richtet diese neu aus. Kühl kam Mitte 2010 nach Mitarbeit im Konzerthaus Berlin im Bereich der Medien- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit zur Interessenvertretung an den Kurfürstendamm. Zuvor absolvierte sie ihr Studium der Musikwissenschaft mit Magister Artium an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. In den Nebenfächern studierte Kühl Erziehungswissenschaft und Germanistische Linguistik.
Joachim F. Stock confirmed as Chairman of SOMM – Management Board sets up task forces
At the 45th Management Board meeting of the Society Of Music Merchants (SOMM), the Board officers confirmed Joachim F. Stock (CEO, Just Music GmbH) for another three years in office as Chairman of SOMM. In the wake of the 7th ordinary annual general meeting in September 2011, the body was then restructured following Stock’s unanimous re-election.
Thilo M. Kramny (CEO, PPVMedien GmbH), was also re-elected as Deputy Chairman for three years. The annual general meeting in September had already confirmed the other Management Board members Heike Kubicki (Sales Director, Audio Pro Heilbronn Elektroakustik GmbH), Stefan Althoff (Management, SONOR GmbH & Co. KG), Matthias Meyer (Management, Musik Meyer GmbH) and Hans Thomann (Management, Musikhaus Thomann e. K.) in their offices.
In order to work even more effectively and efficiently with the society’s Executive Board, the Management Board has now been structured into five task force units:
Continued Training /Education Policy (Kubicki, Stock);
Tradeshows (Kubicki/Stock);
Market research / Development / Environment (Meyer, Thomann);
Communications / Culture / Marketing (Althoff, Kramny);
Politics / Lobby / Legal (Althoff, Kramny).
The European School Music Prize 2012: Participate now!

There are teachers and schools that know how to use new ideas and great concepts to inspire young people to actively make music with their instruments. The European School Music Prize 2012 is deemed to distinguish them. Wanted are innovative examples for creative, methodical work in the classromm and study groups where active music-making occupies center stage. All qualified music teachers can take part using examples taken from music lessons given in the classroom or study groups for the school year 2011/2012. The European School Music Prize 2012 includes prize money of 21,000 euros.
