TRAINING „Certified Music Merchant“

The SOMM's „Certified Music Merchant“ training addresses the current training situation within the music industry.  Frequently, the teaching of in-depth knowledge about the specific characteristics of music instruments is not part of the curriculum of vocational training centers, nor is this information treated comprehensively in on the job training for music business staff.

We, The Society of Music Merchants, propose to close this gap in the interest of the music instrument and components business.  We view training in the following capabilities and knowledge, as the most important task of this special program that we are offering:

• Extensive knowledge of music and the music industry

Our program is designed to meet the demands of active players within the music merchant business. Apprentices, individuals who are entering the business laterally, as well as musicians with no sales training can benefit from this program.  Suppliers with a wholesale background or interns with a publishing house background could also acquire important specialist knowledge through our training. 

The contents of our courses is based on the demands of real businesses. The teaching approach of the SOMM seminars is practical and hands-on with the use of current-day examples. Participants are encouraged to exchange ideas and to form networks.  Such networks are especially critical for newcomers to the music industry.
