TheSOMM training seminar „Certified Music Merchant“ begins soon - Register now!
From 17 - 21 May 2010, a new course of instruction will be offered by SOMM training at the Musikpark in Mannheim. This training will encompass 3 units that build upon one another and culminate in a final examination. A successful examination certifies the candidates accomplishments and in-depth music industry specific knowledge.
With this „Certified Music Merchant“ program, the Society addresses the current training situation within the music industry. The imparting of industry-specific knowledge within the framework of the public trade schools is not envisioned and the music-related businesses that train apprentices often do not cover it with sufficient depth. Our program seeks to impart the following skills and capabilities:
- Mastery of the basic business processes
- Competence in advising and selling
- Good musical sense & good business sense
- Extensive knowledge of music and the music industry
The contents of our courses focus on the demands of real businesses. The teaching approach of the SOMM seminars is practical and hands-on with the use of current-day examples. Participants are encouraged to discuss and exchange ideas and thus, to form networks within the industry. This kind of networking is critical especially for newcomers to the music industry.
The next units are planned for September 2010 and February 2011. All apprentices of the music industry are eligible to take part as are all those who seek in-depth knowledge of the music instrument and music equipment industries. Please contact our business office for more information!
