Tasks and goals

Our strategy is based on the following tasks and goals:

The fundamental ideas of a democratic organization dictate our duties - namely the representation and implementation of the interests of our members. This requires close cooperation with decision makers in politics, media and society as well as institutions that influence the music industry. Our role is to mediate within the business and to serve as advocates of our interests in corporate and public forums. We are active, for example, at the important music trade fairs such as the Franfurt Musikmesse and the NAMM in the United States.

In this connection, we advocate the implementation of modern music and music electronics within the curricula of schools and training centers. By forging new contacts, and deepening the existing ones, to the official and semi-official agencies and other music societies, we strive to enlarge the market. We support the planning and execution of the combined advertising measures of our members. A careful observation of the market enables us to determine where fair competition laws have been violated and how this can be avoided. 

Our target is to create a European-wide network of interested parties to achieve our goals and we cooperate with several other organizations on this matter.

Our core tasks are as follows:

  •  to strengthen the music industry and its participants
  •  to develop and expand active music making
  •  to impart music industry-specific knowledge
  •  to support the culture of music
  •  to further intensify public relations work
  •  to generate confirmed figures for the industry
