PARTNERS
SOMM is a founding member of several important alliances that play a key role in the development of the music industry and the cultural and creative industries. These include the Forum Musikwirtschaft, the Koalition Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft in Deutschland (k3d) and EMIA - European Music Instrument Alliance. Through these partnerships, SOMM actively contributes to the strengthening and further development of the industry.
Forum Musikwirtschaft
The Forum Musikwirtschaft is made up of the seven leading music industry associations. These are the BDKV (Federal Association of the Concert and Event Industry), the BVMI (Federal Association of the Music Industry), the DMV (Association of German Music Publishers), the IMUC (Association of Music Managers & Consultants), LIVEKOMM (Association of Music Venues in Germany), the SOMM (Society of Music Merchants) and the VUT (Association of Independent Music Entrepreneurs). It thus encompasses the key sectors of the music industry, which are closely interlinked due to their complex value-added structures. The Forum sees itself as a space for discourse in which central issues of the music industry are identified and discussed in order to address them to politicians and the public. Cooperation is based on the understanding that it is necessary to exchange ideas with other market participants in order to reflect the views of all industry players in their entirety, depending on the situation. The Forum does not see itself as an umbrella organisation for the industry. Rather, common issues are presented jointly to the outside world, with each association primarily representing the interests of its members and speaking on their behalf. The Forum Musikwirtschaft is committed to promoting the cultural and social value of music in society and to shaping the industry according to the principles of economic and ecological sustainability.
K3d – Koalition der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft
The Koalition Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft in Deutschland (k3d) is an open alliance of leading private sector interest groups - it sees itself as a competent mouthpiece for the key sector for social and economic change. As an agile driving force for politics and government at federal, state and EU level, it develops overarching positions, statements and demands on cultural, media and economic policy issues. The players in the cultural and creative industries (CCIs) represented by the coalition's associations are the relevant driving force for creativity, innovation, productivity and economic growth in Germany and at the same time a guarantor of democracy, diversity and social cohesion.
European Music Instrument Alliance (EMIA)
The European Musical Instrument Alliance (EMIA) is an alliance of major European trade associations in the musical instrument industry. It sees itself as a forum and discourse space for relevant national and international associations and organisations with the aim of identifying, discussing, shaping and optimising the economic and legal framework conditions for all areas of the musical instrument industry and addressing them to politicians. EMIA stands up for the cultural and economic interests of the musical instrument and musical equipment industry nationally and throughout Europe, with the aim of strengthening the competitiveness of the industry in all market sectors, helping to shape the political and legal framework conditions in accordance with the requirements of the industry and promoting up-to-date further and advanced training in music, as well as promoting active music-making and musical skills in society.
