Laut Monitoringbericht Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft 2019 des Bundesministeriums für Wirtschaft und Energie (BMWi) lag 2018 der Umsatz bei der Herstellung von Musikinstrumenten im betrachteten Zeitraum seit 2009 so hoch wie noch nie. Der Umsatz mit Musikinstrumenten im Einzelhandel ist nur im Vergleich zu 2017 leicht rückläufig, hat sich aber ansonsten seit 2009 kontinuierlich gesteigert.

Heute wurde auf der vom 17. bis 28. August in Genf (Schweiz) stattfindenden CITES Vertragsstaatenkonferenz (CoP18) dem Antrag der EU und Kanadas offiziell stattgegeben, fertige Musikinstrumente, -teile und fertige Musikinstrumenten-Zubehöre als Ausnahme von CITES II in die Fußnote #15 aufzunehmen.

Der deutsche Markt für Musikinstrumente, Musikequipment, ProAudio und Notenausgaben konnte seinen Gesamtumsatz laut Verbandsstatistik für das Musikjahr 2018 im Vergleich zum Vorjahr um knapp sechs Prozent erhöhen. Die MI-Branche insgesamt verzeichnet einen Umsatz von rund einer Milliarde Euro zu Endverbraucherpreisen. Der Gesamtmarkt wuchs somit im fünften Jahr in Folge.

[SOMM Presseinformation] 01.12.2017 I Musizieren als Freizeitbeschäftigung unter Jugendlichen immer beliebter
Laut aktueller JIM-Studie macht jeder Vierte Jugendliche zwischen zwölf und 19 Jahren regelmäßig Musik (24%). Damit liegt das Musizieren bei den Jugendlichen an vierter Stelle bei den beliebtesten non-medialen Freizeitaktivitäten, noch vor dem Besuch von Sportveranstaltungen (15%) oder Partys (5%). Das Musizieren ist bei Mädchen (29%) deutlich beliebter als bei Jungen (18%).
