Der Umsatz mit Musikinstrumenten im Einzelhandel ist nur im Vergleich zu 2017 leicht rückläufig, hat sich aber ansonsten seit 2009 kontinuierlich gesteigert.

Laut aktueller JIM-Studie macht jeder Vierte Jugendliche zwischen zwölf und 19 Jahren regelmäßig Musik (24%). Damit liegt das Musizieren bei den Jugendlichen an vierter Stelle bei den beliebtesten non-medialen Freizeitaktivitäten, noch vor dem Besuch von Sportveranstaltungen (15%) oder Partys (5%).
