[SOMM Press information] 03.06.2026 I The Guitar Summit and the magazine Guitar & Bass have joined the SOMM (Society of Music Merchants) in a collaboration aimed at inspiring more people to make music

The Society of Music Merchants e.V. (SOMM) welcomes the Guitar Unit of the Ebner Media Group as a new member. The Guitar Unit comprises the Guitar Summit, Europe's largest guitar show, which attracts exhibitors and visitors from over 30 countries, as well as the trade magazine Guitar & Bass, which has been one of the most important German-language platforms for the guitar community for over 40 years.

[SOMM Press information] 28.05.2026 I European industry association SOMM welcomes the EU’s decision against Temu – but further action is urgently needed

Today, the Society of Music Merchants e.V. (SOMM) welcomed the European Commission's decision regarding the Temu platform under the Digital Services Act (DSA). According to the association, the decision highlights the importance of a functioning European legal framework for product safety, consumer protection, and fair competition in the digital single market.

[SOMM Press information] 27.05.2026 I Music belongs at the heart of society – the SOMM is calling on the industry to actively participate in the Fête de la Musique 2026

On 21 June, the Fête de la Musique will once again demonstrate the social power that music can unleash in numerous cities across Europe and worldwide. Streets, squares, and public spaces will become places where people can meet, play music together, and engage with culture. For the SOMM, this day represents more than just a music festival; it symbolises the importance of active music-making and the social value of music as a whole.

SOMM – Society Of Music Merchants e. V. is successfully implementing its measures to actively recruit new members. At the akustika trade fair in Nuremberg (April 24–26, 2026), the association was able to welcome ROHEMA Percussion OHG, a company with a long tradition, as a new member.

On 22 April, Daniel Knöll (Managing Director of SOMM – Society of Music Merchants e.V.) and Helmut Verdenhalven (Head of Media Policy and member of the Executive Board at the Federal Association of Digital Publishers and Newspaper Publishers (BDZV)) presented the industry’s positions as spokespersons for K3D – the Coalition for the Cultural and Creative Industries in Germany – before the German Bundestag’s Committee on Culture and Media.
